The world eater known as Galactus transformed Norrin Radd into the Silver Surfer. Galactus granted the Silver Surfer a portion of his own cosmic power and gave him a mentally-controlled surfboard that allows him to travel through the cosmos. The Surfer's body is coated in a silver glaze that protects him from the extreme temperatures of deep space. The glaze reflects the light of blazing suns and can even protect the Surfer from the incredibly intense heat released when a star goes supernova. Not even searing solar flares can stop the Silver Surfer in his tireless battle against inter-galactic evil.
