But little did Spider-Man know that his new costume was actually an alien symbiote trying to permanently merge with him1 Fortunately, Spider-Man was able to free himself from the symbiote before it could take him over, but the costume survived and eventually merged with Eddie Brock, becoming one of Spider-Man's most dangerous villains---Venom!
